Constable Bablu Rabha served in CRPF's elite CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) unit, trained for jungle warfare and counter-Maoist operations. On 3 April 2021, near Jonaguda village in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, his unit was caught in a massive encirclement ambush by an estimated 400 Maoists. Despite being outnumbered, Bablu Rabha fought courageously, engaging the Maoists in close-quarter combat in dense forest. He was killed in the action. Twenty-two security forces personnel were martyred that day. He was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra.
