Constable Shambhu Roy

Constable Shambhu Roy was part of the CRPF contingent ambushed near Jonaguda village, Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh on 3 April 2021. An estimated 400 Maoists had laid an elaborate encirclement trap in dense forest. Shambhu Roy stood his ground and engaged the attackers until he was killed. Twenty-two security forces personnel were martyred — the worst single-day loss in the Naxal conflict in over a decade. He was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra.
